Shhh... don’t make a peep, or you’ll move. Wow, it’s an entirely different world under the microscope! What secrets hide beyond what the eye can see? Beneath the surface of leaves, drops of water, and even our own skin lies a hidden world of intricate patterns and fascinating structures. In this module, students will dive into the microcosms, uncovering the beauty of cells, tissues, and microorganisms. Each session begins with the thrill of discovery as students observe pre-made samples under the microscope. From the geometric precision of plant cells to the flowing forms of tiny organisms, students will learn to sketch what they see with accuracy and creativity. Through hands-on practice, they’ll develop skills in shading, texture, and proportion, turning scientific observation into artistic expression.
Designed for students aged 8 to 14, this module reveals how intuitive young learners can be and how inquisitive our older students are. More than just a sketching class, this module inspires curiosity and interdisciplinary thinking. By blending art and biology, students will explore how structure relates to function, how patterns in nature emerge, and how the smallest details can spark the biggest ideas. Students will need to bring their own sketchbook and sketching pencil set, which can be purchased from the studio.
