Terms of Enrolment

These Terms of Enrolment apply to all programmes offered by AJ Studio, during school term. By enrolling and making payment, you agree to the terms below.

1. Nature of Enrolment AJ Studio programmes are delivered as weekly, instructor-led studio classes during the school term. Enrolment secures a reserved place for a student in a specific course, class day, and time for a defined enrolment period. Enrolment is not a bank of flexible lesson credits.

2. Enrolment Options
AJ Studio offers the following enrolment options: 

- Single Term
- Two-Term Commitment
- Annual Enrolment (Best Value)
Each enrolment option specifies:
- a fixed enrolment period, and
- a fixed number of lessons to be delivered within that period.  

3. Lesson Numbers and Delivery Guarantee Where a course lists a specific number of lessons, AJ Studio guarantees delivery of that number within the enrolment period. Lessons may be delivered through:
- scheduled in-person classes, and
- studio-approved make-up options where applicable.

4. Public Holidays
If a scheduled class falls on a public holiday when the studio is closed: 

- AJ Studio will offer one replacement lesson within the same term to replace the cancelled session.
- The replacement lesson is scheduled by the studio.
- The replacement lesson may be delivered in person or online.
- Replacement lessons cannot be rescheduled, credited, or carried forward if missed.

5. Student Absence and Make-Up Options
If a student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson due to illness, holiday, school camp, or other personal commitments:
- The lesson is considered missed.
- Missed lessons are not refundable.
Where possible and within the enrolment period, AJ Studio may offer a make-up option at the studio’s discretion, which may include:
- attendance at another scheduled session of the same course (subject to availability), or
- access to an online lesson covering equivalent curriculum content.

Make-up options:
- are not guaranteed
- must be arranged with the studio
- cannot be carried over beyond the enrolment period

6. Online Lessons 

AJ Studio may offer online lessons as a recognised make-up modality when a student cannot attend an in-person class. Where provided, an online lesson:
- counts as a make-up for the missed lesson
- covers equivalent curriculum content
- does not entitle the student to an additional in-person lesson
- does not extend the enrolment period
Online lessons are offered within the enrolment period only and are not redeemable for future in-person attendance.

7. Changes to Lesson Day or Time 

Requests to change lesson day or time may be considered within the same course and enrolment period, subject to availability and studio approval.
Changes are not guaranteed and may be declined to maintain class balance, learning continuity, and staffing arrangements.

8. Course Changes and Studio Credit
Requests to move to a different course may be considered within the same enrolment period, subject to availability and suitability. Course changes take effect from the date they are approved. 

- If moving to a course with a higher fee, the price difference will apply from the change date.
- If moving to a course with a lower fee, no cash refunds are issued. Any price difference may be held as studio credit.
Studio credit:
- may be used within the same enrolment period
- may be applied to additional lessons or to a sibling’s enrolment
- is non-refundable
- expires at the end of the enrolment period
Lesson counts remain tied to the original enrolment plan and do not reset or extend with a course change.

9. Additional Lessons
If a student attends more lessons than included in their enrolment plan, additional lessons will be charged at the casual attendance rate, subject to prior studio approval.

10. Cancellation and RefundsSingle Term and Two-Term Commitment
- Single Term and Two-Term Commitment enrolments are non-refundable once the enrolment period has begun.

Annual Enrolment (Best Value)
Annual Enrolment is a commitment-based option. If cancellation is requested:
- Cancellations requested before the official start of Term 3 may be eligible for a partial refund.
- Refund eligibility is based on the official term start date, not a student’s individual class day.
- Lessons already delivered or reserved will be recalculated at the standard term rate, not the discounted annual rate.
- A $25 administration fee applies.
- Any payment processing fees charged by the payment provider (including Stripe) are non-refundable.
- Once Term 3 has begun, Annual Enrolment is no longer refundable.

11. Studio-Led Cancellations
If a class is cancelled by the studio for reasons other than public holidays, AJ Studio will offer a studio-scheduled replacement lesson or an alternative arrangement within the enrolment period.

12. Suitability and Conduct
AJ Studio reserves the right to discontinue an enrolment if a programme is not suitable for a student or if behaviour significantly disrupts the learning environment. This will be discussed with families where reasonably practicable.

13. Force Majeure
In the event of circumstances beyond the studio’s reasonable control (including severe weather, public health restrictions, or government directives), AJ Studio will communicate alternative arrangements where possible. Refunds are not guaranteed in these circumstances.

14. Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms of Enrolment limits or excludes any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other applicable New Zealand consumer protection laws.

15. Acceptance of Terms
By completing enrolment and making payment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Enrolment.
